Okay, times are hard. Even if you have a high paying job why would you want to spend a lot of money in grocery stores or drug stores for that matter. Let’s face it the more you make, the more you spend the broker you are! As a smart consumer, it is your responsibility to get the most for your retail buck. Walgreen’s allows you to do just that by using a combination of manufacturers coupons, store coupons and Register Rewards.
Walgreens Register Rewards are coupons that you receive after you pay for a product that offers a reward. These products are listed in the stores weekly sales paper. It is a good idea to purchase the Sunday paper every week. This will allow you to accumulate coupons. You will also receive the Walgreens sales paper.
Carefully read the sales paper. It normally consists of several pages. Take your time. Locate items that are included in the Register Reward Program. Every week new products are listed. Some of these products free after you receive the Register Reward. For instance, I purchased Men’s Nivea Body Wash for $5.99 and received a $5.99 register reward after I paid for the product. This $5.99 register reward was used as cash during my next visit. Therefore, I actually only paid the tax on the body wash because I still had $5.99 to spend on anything in the store.
You can buy as many Register Reward items as you like. However, you need to understand the rules that will allow you to maximize your buying power. First never buy more than 1 of the same register reward product at a time. If you do you will only get one register reward for that item. For example, if I had bought more than one bottle of body wash, I would only have receive one Register Reward. It is okay to buy two separate products that offer Register Rewards. Be
careful. Make sure you read the sales paper for all details.
After you have a Register Reward, make sure to use it before its expiration date. Normally, Register Rewards expire in 2 weeks. Remember they are just like coupons but can be used on any product in the store. Plan shopping trips. Make sure you gather any and all coupons prior to going to Walgreens.
Never attempt to use more coupons than the number of products that you are purchasing. This will cause the cash register software to reject your coupons and you will end up paying more cash out of pocket than necessary. Keep in mind that Register Rewards count as coupons. Therefore, if you are buying 3 products you can not use more than 3 coupons.
Another fact that you need to be aware of is the requirement to spend the total value of the coupons and register rewards before taxes. For instance if you have a register reward for $5.00 and a $1.00 manufacturers coupon, your total purchase must equal $6.00 before taxes. If your purchase is less than six dollars you simply need to purchase a filler ( a product that does not cost much to bring your total to $6.00. This is important. I’ve had problems at the register for being a few pennies short. But I quickly grabbed a piece of candy to use as a filler.
Once you have your shopping trip planned carefully, you’re ready to do the actual shopping. When you are gathering the merchandise be sure that you have as many items as you have coupons. Walgreens cash register software does not accept more coupons than items.
To make sure that all of your coupons and Register Rewards are accepted by the cash register, let the cashier ring up your purchases. Then give the cashier your Register Rewards. Present your manufacturers coupons. Then present any store coupons from the sales paper or Walgreen coupon books, which are found at the front of the store in displays or next to the cash register.
Shopping at Walgreens to save money requires planning and learning. Both activities will be well worth the effort when you start saving money.

If you’re like most people, saving money would really improve the quality of your life. However, finding ways to save money is often difficult because most monthly expenses are fixed. You pay a set amount every month for housing, insurance, and car notes. In most cases, the amount of money spent on groceries is the only monthly expense that is flexible. How much do you spend every month on groceries? Okay, now imagine how you would feel if you spent half of that amount. Many consumers save money every week by using a smart shopping system. The system consists of shopping strategically, knowing where to shop and using coupons. In a lot of cases, shopping in this way allows consumers to not only cut their grocery bill in half, but to get some free grocery and personal care items.
Step 1
View local sales papers prior to going to the grocery store. Ideally, the sales paper will is included in the Sunday newspaper. However, if it is not, simply view the sales paper online if it is available. Most major grocery and drug stores display the sales paper on company web sites.
Always purchase items at the lowest price. This requires stocking up when your favorite items are on sale. Buy at least a 6 week supply of sale items while they are on sale. This will allow you to have enough products stock piled until the next sale on those items.
Locate coupon sources. Sunday papers, manufacturer web sites, and coupon distribution web sites are good sources. Purchase the Sunday newspaper every week. This is an excellent source for grocery coupons. You can also Get $100 worth of Free Coupons
online. These can be printed from your home computer. If you have never printed coupons from the computer that you are using, you will have to download software that will allow you to access the coupons. Once you install this program, you will be able to print most coupons that can be found on the internet.
Develop a coupon inventory system. Keeping your coupons organized will allow you to quickly obtain them when needed. Put all coupon flyers in a large envelope or shoe box.Don’t throw any coupons away unless they have expired. Remember your goal is to wait for sales and use your coupons on sale items. In some cases, sales will occur right after you get coupons. However, sometimes you may not find items on sale for several weeks or months. This will require keeping your coupons for a while.
Prior to shopping, develop a shopping list consisting of items currently on sale. Locate any store and manufacturer coupons for those items. Stores only allow you to use one manufacturer’s coupon per item. Therefore, if you have a coupon for ketchup, and you have two coupons for the ketchup, you can only use one coupon if you are buying 1 bottle of ketchup. However, if you buy two bottles of ketchup, you can use both manufacturers coupons.
Use coupons at stores that double or triple the face value of the coupon. Ask store employees about the coupon policy. Some stores offer extra coupon savings on certain days. For instance, Tuesday may mean triple coupons whereas all other days may result in double coupon days.
Planning your shopping trip on the day that offers the highest coupon savings will allow you to pay less for name brand products than generic.
